Responsibilities:

  • Operates, repairs, and maintains heavy power construction equipment such as compressors, pumps, hoists, shovels, trucks, tractors, graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, scrapers, or motor graders.
  • Responsible for operating equipment to maintain roadways and firebreaks by excavating, moving, and grading earth. Erects structural and reinforcing steel. Pours concrete or other road paving and construction materials. Performs loading, unloading, and lifting operations using heavy equipment. Assists the Maintenance Supervisor in directing and accomplishing range maintenance.
  • Assists in the movement of range assets in support of mission operations.
  • When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must cease work and notify lead, supervisor, or manager of all unsafe conditions.
  • Must successfully complete all assigned training and ensure its entry into their training jacket, to include but not limited to monthly CTTR training assigned in SharePoint, government assigned training in TWMS, and all other non-recurring training as assigned.
  • Will accurately document work performed in the IEMS
  • May be required to travel up to 50 % in performance of work, government Joint Travel Regulations are applicable to all travel.
  • Work is scheduled by the manager or supervisor based on mission schedule and fleet requirements. Mission support requires shifting of schedules to accommodate fleet readiness and to ensure crew rest.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years’ experience in operating and maintaining heavy equipment.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Licensed or trained to operate applicable items of heavy equipment.
  • Must possess a class A CDL.
  • May be required to obtain a Hazmat Endorsement on CDL
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Experience involving the maintenance, repair, and modification of heavy duty vehicles and mobile equipment which have utility systems or special hydraulic pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems, features, or controls; i.e., Mobile Visual Cues, (MVC) and High Fidelity Threat Identifier, (HFTI)
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to work independently and interact well with others in a team setting.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Duties will require frequent periods of bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level, and kneeling. Occasionally require periods of crawling and climbing.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
